Each year we offer a variety of programs for our colleagues. Some occur in various locations throughout the province to increase accessibility. We also offer the opportunity to join us online for many of our workshops. The FOUNDATIONS for Professionals workshop, created by BCFHRC, is designed to strengthen professionals’ knowledge of children’s hearing differences/deafness and how they relate to their development. Research shows that children with hearing differences/deafness are at risk for social, emotional and academic difficulties. The Foundations for Professionals workshop aims to equip professionals with the knowledge and strategies needed to support development and learning in these area.

For professionals in BC who work with young children who have cochlear implants or are going through the cochlear implant candidacy process. This interactive workshop will strengthen attendees understanding of how to best support your clients and families.

For professionals working with families of infants 0 to 18months, this interactive workshop will strengthen your understanding of how to best support parents at this early point in their journey.

Co-hosted with the Surrey School District, and presented by Language First, this workshop will cover language acquisition and development in DHH children. It will explain the importance of accessible language in the early years of life and will review interactive strategies to support and foster bilingual language development in DHH children.
