Foundations for Families Workshop
The Foundations for Families workshop is aimed at building families’ knowledge of how their child’s deafness or hearing levels relate to language development. This workshop also aims to equip families with the knowledge they need to make well-informed decisions and strategies to support their child’s progress. It is co-facilitated by Early Interventionists, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Role Models, and Family Support Parents.
Education Fair
This annual workshop provides parents the opportunity to learn from a panel of presenters about school-aged programs and resources available to your deaf or hard of hearing child. All BCFHRS parents are welcome to attend, because it’s never too early to start thinking about education options for your deaf or hard of hearing child.

Our PEER Kindergarten Transition Program is designed for families of deaf and hard of hearing children across British Columbia and the Yukon. It is available to families one year prior to their child’s entrance into Kindergarten. The program is designed to educate parents about how to effectively advocate for their child’s specific needs as related to hearing loss/deafness in school settings. There are two components to this program: PEER for Parents (online evening sessions) and PEER for Kids (opportunities for children to connect with their peers).
