Our wide variety of workshops provide many opportunities for professionals to improve their skills in this field.

Workshops for Different Needs

In order to best support our colleagues we offer the following professional workshops based on the needs of the community. Topics may change from year to year, but can include:

Foundations for Professionals

The Foundations for Professionals workshop, created by BCFHRS, is designed to strengthen professionals’ understanding of how a child’s hearing/deafness can impact their development. Research shows that children who are deaf or hard of hearing are at risk for social, emotional and academic difficulties. The Foundations for Professionals workshop aims to equip professionals with the knowledge and strategies to support development and learning in these areas.

Foundations for Professionals also provides an opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion with other professionals in your community who may also have experience in working with a child who is deaf or hard of hearing. Connecting with other professionals is a valuable way to gain knowledge and share ideas.

CI Workshops

The BCFHRS occasionally hosts workshops for professionals in BC who work with young children who have cochlear implants or are going through the cochlear implant candidacy process.

These interactive workshops will strengthen your understanding of how to best support clients and their families when dealing with the challenges and benefits of cochlear implants.
