At BCFHRC, we believe that teamwork and collaboration between professionals are essential to ensure a family’s success in early intervention. To this end, we encourage communication and consultation with all professional team members working with our BCFHRC children.

In order to best support our colleagues we extend the following services:

  • Professional workshops based on the needs of the community.  Topics may change from year to year, but can include:
    • ECE workshop for those working with children who are deaf and hard-of-hearing
    • Foundations for Professionals
    • Partnerships Program
    • Cochlear Implant Workshop
    • Infant Workshop
  • Individual consultation, education and support to Community Service Providers (CSP’s) such as Speech-Language Pathologists, Audiologists, Infant Development Consultants, Supported Child Development Consultants, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists
  • Consultation to daycares and preschools to provide specific tools and education relating to the needs of children who are deaf and hard-of-hearing attending these programs
  • Collaboration on the creation of Individualized Family Support Plans (IFSP’s)
  • Outreach consultation to communities outside of the Lower Mainland
  • Access to our Provincial Resource Library at our Main Surrey Centre
