It's not important HOW you communicate, it's simply that you DO!

Want to Volunteer?

Program Volunteers

We are looking for caring, playful, dedicated volunteers who would enjoy interacting with and talking to young deaf and hard of hearing children and their siblings. Helping program staff prepare therapy materials and assisting in the classrooms enhances our programs and services. Some knowledge of sign language would be useful but it is not a requirement. Volunteers new to the area of hearing loss and working directly with the children will be encouraged to attend an orientation workshop on hearing loss. Volunteers are eligible to attend family oriented sign classes at our centre.

Administration Volunteers

We are looking for dedicated volunteers who enjoy office work to assist us anytime Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We are happy to give work experience to individuals entering or re-entering the work force, and welcome retirees.

Special Event Volunteers

From time to time we require volunteers to assist us with planning and hosting special events in support of our services. A clean criminal record check is required for all volunteers.

Walk-a-thon

The Elks & Royal Purple Associations donate in excess of $180,000 per year towards the services we provide at our Centre. They have been our life blood since the beginning in 1983, then called the Elks Auditory Rehabilitation Centre. Each year this wonderful group hosts a Walk-a-thon for Bright Futures to assist our children.
