First Weeks After the Diagnosis

Being a parent is not always easy. Being a parent of a deaf or hard of hearing baby or young child brings new and different challenges to an already complex job.  Because you are the parent of a young child with a hearing loss there may be times when you feel a range of powerful emotions-from frustration to pride and back again. You are not alone.  In this section we describe a process many parents go through during the first weeks after their baby’s diagnosis. We have included the experiences, ideas, and questions that parents have shared with us.
